About this part

Fuel pressure regulator 35301-25700, also supplied as 35301-25000, for the Hyundai Accent on the X-3 and LC platforms and the Kia Sephia and Spectra on the same engine family. It bolts to the end of the fuel rail, vacuum referenced, with the return line on the outlet spigot.

The regulator holds rail pressure at a fixed margin above manifold pressure, so the injectors always see the same differential no matter what the throttle is doing. The diaphragm and spring inside it work against fuel at 3 bar all day, and the failure is mechanical: the spring softens or the diaphragm pin holes, and the pressure drifts.

A regulator that has drifted rich shows black smoke and a fuel smell at idle, plugs that soot up, and an idle that hunts because the injectors are delivering more than the ECU is asking for. One that has drifted lean shows a lean misfire at part throttle, a hot restart that needs two or three cranks, and a long term fuel trim pinned at its positive limit. Pull the vacuum hose off: fuel in the hose means the diaphragm has failed and the engine is drawing raw petrol through the intake.

Fit with a new O ring, torque the two bolts evenly, and check for leaks with the pump primed before starting. Every unit is flow and pressure tested at three reference points, 12 month warranty.
