Intake manifold gasket 140328698R for the Renault, Dacia, Nissan and Lada models built on the Renault-Nissan alliance small petrol and diesel engines, 2004 onwards. The gasket is a moulded FPM (fluoride rubber) seal, the material specified for this joint because it holds its shape against hot oil vapour and stays flexible across the full under-bonnet temperature range.

The joint it seals is the manifold to head face on the four cylinder engines used across Duster, Logan, Sandero, Megane, Dokker, Lodgy, Terrano, XRAY and Vesta. A failed gasket shows up as a whistling or hissing noise on light throttle, a rough idle that smooths out when the engine is revved, a lean fault code on one bank, and in bad cases a visible oil mist around the port face. Left alone it pulls unmetered air past the airflow meter and the ECU compensates by adding fuel, so consumption climbs and the catalyst suffers.

Fitting: let the engine cool completely, because the plastic manifold distorts if it is unbolted hot. Clean both faces with a plastic scraper and a non-aggressive solvent, never a rotary wire brush, since the aluminium face scores easily and a scored face will not seal again. Seat the gasket dry, no sealant, then torque the manifold bolts in a cross pattern in two stages. Recheck for leaks with carburettor cleaner around the ports while the engine idles.
